What is the CMIT program?
A Chi Alpha CMIT program is a 10-month internship designed to train individuals in every aspect of vocational, full-time campus ministry. A CMIT program is a bridge between a college education and vocational university ministry on a secular campus. During this time a person can test his or her calling into full-time university ministry. This training takes place under the guidance of experienced campus missionaries as the CMIT participates fully in supervised ministry to a campus community and learns how to implement the mission of Chi Alpha.
The program is a combination of directed Biblical study, practical ministry experience, and mentoring by experienced campus ministers.

Chi Alpha's mission is to reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world. Why Prairie View?
Historically Black colleges are the most neglected campuses by college ministries, national and local. Out of the 110,000 U.S. missionaries, less than 1% are African American. Prairie View Chi Alpha can change that by discipling more minorities and equipping them to make committed disciples.
The C.M.I.T. program
Practical ministry competency
- Lead and mentor students in a discipleship-based small group; teach students how to become Godly leaders.
- Ministry outreach to the international community.
- Learning how to evangelize and reach the college campus.
- The art of preaching to a congregation.
- Principles of ministry organization and working with people in ministry.
- Recruit and lead cross-cultural mission trips across the country and around the world.
- Raising funds as a religious non-profit: creating and maintaining a financial support team for the mission.
- A Biblical worldview of raising funds and funding a ministry.
- Time and financial management training.
Theological competency
Berean School of the Bible
- A deeper learning of Biblical and systematic theology.
- Church history and the formation of the Bible.
- Biblical philosophy and apologetics; hermeneutics and exegesis.
- Conversing on difficult biblical topics: salvation, church denominations, women in ministry, baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, evolution and the origin of man, life after death, and more.
- Theological explorations of critical campus ministry issues: racism and social justice, gender and sexuality, church and politics.
Healthy minister
- Discover the problem of emotionally unhealthy spirituality in ministry, and learn to cultivate an emotionally healthy spirituality.
- Principles of being a missionary versus doing ministry.
- Learn and apply the disciplines of a devotional and prayer life.
- Personal limits and boundaries for a healthy ministry life; love as the measure of spiritual maturity.
- How to break the power of the past.
- Servant leadership out of weakness and vulnerability.
- Stewarding a healthy physical lifestyle through diet and fitness.
